Guernsey Hedgehog Rescue Centre
HEDGEHOG STORIES: ZIGGY
Ziggy was brought into the centre on 11th Oct suffering from severe Mange.

Upon arrival at the centre we set to work treating Ziggy by injecting her with a drug to kill the mange mites, applying tea tree cream to loosen the mange on her and spraying her with Aloe Vera spray to alleviate the itching.

Since being at the centre we have found that Ziggy is a very fussy eater! She refuses to eat the tinned cat food and cat biscuits we feed the other hedgehogs at the centre and will only eat fresh food that she would naturally find in the wild as well as cheese and peanuts. Despite this Ziggy’s weight has increased from 590 grams on arrival at the centre to 778 grams. She has also slipped into hibernation on a couple of occasions.

We are hoping that Ziggy will be fully recovered soon. When she is we will release her back into the wild near the area where she was found.
