HEDGEHOG STORIES: WINSTON
Winston was brought to us by the GSPCA. He was a youngster and weighed just 285g on arrival. Winston had a swollen front right leg. It was X-rayed and found to be free of fractures or breaks. Further investigation revealed one of his nails hanging off and an infection.

His nail was removed and he was treated with antibiotics. Winston was put in his cage with food and water, and a heat pad under his bed.

He has now recovered from his infection. Winston happily eats all his food at night and now weighs 440g. He will stay with us a little while longer and when he reaches 700g will be returned to a safe location in the wild.
