Mary is a juvenile hedgehog that was brought into the centre on 2nd December. She was found out in the daytime (a clear sign that a hedgehog is ill). She had a heavy tick infestation, her gums were blue and she was lethargic. Her spines were also flat against her body (another sign that she was ill). She weighed 292 grams.
We gave Mary antibiotics for 1 week and had to worm her twice. She now weighs 670 grams and is doing very well.
She will remain with us until the spring when we will release her back into the wild where she was found.
