HEDGEHOG STORIES: HOGMANAY
Hogmanay is an adult hedgehog that was brought into the centre on New Year's Eve. He was lively but was suffering from severe mange and was very dehydrated.

Because Hogmany was very cold we immediately put him on a heat pad and then set to work de-fleaing him and giving him an injection of Ivamec to kill the mange mites.

Everyday we sprayed Hogmanay with Aloe Vet to ease the itching of the mange and also massaged tea-tree cream onto his wounds to further remove the mange. Routine worming was also carried out.

Within a couple of days of being admitted the mange had begun to clear.

Hogmanay is now clear of mange and weighs a healthy 1,128 grams. He will be released back into the wild when spring arrives.
