Henry is a hoglet that was brought into the centre on 23rd October 2005. He was found out in the daytime (a clear sign that a hedgehog is ill) and was very hyperactive. He had the early stages of mange (it is important to spot and treat mange as early as possible). He weighed only 145 grams.
Henry received treatment at the centre for his conditions but as it was well into the winter it was too late for him to be released back into the wild immediately (we were also worried about his mange returning). Henry was also wormed (a treatment that we carry out routinely at the centre).
Henry has now been tagged (all hedgehogs that are treated at the centre leave with a numbered ear tag so we can track them). Henry now weighs 687 grams and will be put in a pen at the centre for the summer to check he is fully recovered before we release him back into the wild.
