Guernsey Hedgehog Rescue Centre
HEDGEHOG STORIES: AUTUMN
Autumn is a juvenile hedgehog that was brought into the centre on 23rd November. He had been found out in the day (a sign that a hedgehog is unwell) and had a heavy flea infestation, which was unusual for that time of the year. Tests revealed that Autumn had a severe case of worms; in fact it was so bad we had to treat him twice.

Autumn now weighs 518 grams, however he will not reach sufficient weight to be released before the winter so he will go to a foster family who will care for him during the winter in a hutch. This arrangement creates room at the centre for more seriously ill hedgehogs.

When the weather is milder and he has gained enough weight Autumn will be released back into the wild near the area where he was found.
